“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”
Ephesians 6:11-13 NLT ⚔️
A few years ago, I went thru a season where I watched a lot of UFC. It was exciting & fun because you never knew who was going to win. You might have a fighter that was favored, but all it took was one wrong move, one mistake & boom 💥 he’s knocked out laying on the canvas. The fighters would give it all they had, beat each other bloody for 15 mins, but more times than not, neither one would have the upper hand so it would go to the judges decision.
Once the final bell rang, both fighters would muster all they had to stand up & raise their hands in the air in a sign of strength and victory, showing the judges that they deserved the win over their opponent.
That’s what I imagine when I read this scripture: “Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”
Sometimes we fight well & catch our spiritual enemy with a knockout punch 🤜🏼 But sometimes we barely make it out alive, just trying to lift our hands.
The good news: our judge already decided, Jesus gave us the W 🥇
