“The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.
Wise people treasure knowledge, but the babbling of a fool invites disaster.
Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.”
Proverbs 10:8, 14, 19 NLT
There’s a definite theme in this chapter: Talking too much is not wise, it keeps us from learning & sometimes leads us into sin.
I’m one of those that struggles with this, it’s part of my personality. I’ve had to intentionally try to talk less, listen more, learn as much as possible.
One of the practices I use when I’m with people is asking as many questions as possible. You’d be amazed what you learn when you make someone else the focus of the conversation.
Wisdom is something we all need. It comes easier to some than others (because it’s near impossible to learn when we’re talking). Lord help me to become one who seeks wisdom. One who listens well. One who keeps my mouth shut. Help me to learn from others today. ❤️ 🙏🏼
