DAY 11: Exhausted Mom

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Liz Trujillo, Blogger at Truelifewithliz.com, Communications Director - Worship Leader & Vocal Coach at Junction Community Church in Grand Junction, CO, wifey, and mom of 2 amazing young ladies (Ages 18 & 14), and a little prince (age 8).

BIBLE VERSE :

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 CSB

APPLICATION:

Before this pandemic, it was easy to hop in the car, drop kids off at school, go home and hit the ground running with housework, and regular work, and everything in between.

Now that we are in the midst of these uncertain times, it’s not so easy to do those things, much less hit the ground running with tasks that are ever before us as moms.

One thing that this pandemic did not change: Things still have to get done around us.

There’s always one more thing to do.

One more thing to clean.

One more area to organize.

One more meal to prep.

One more load of laundry to fold (my nemesis!).

One more surface to sanitize.

Needs are all around us as moms. Whether working out of the home, working remotely from home, or governing a home- needs will always be found. Yes, the needs of our growing families, but also the needs in our own hearts as mothers.

And when our own needs begin to rise up and start to make their way to the surface of our life, we feel the wear & tear. Oftentimes, we can begin to feel like there isn’t enough of us to go around.

The truth is, we aren’t enough. Even on our best days, we still feel the weight of our own shortcomings. But there is good news friend: Christ is enough.

Jesus is more than enough for the needs that are around us, and He is more than enough for the needs we find within us.

And because Christ is enough, we don’t have to be.

We can find encouragement in this verse  today:

““But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 CSB

Friend, when we feel weak and less than adequate for the tasks at hand and the needs pulling at our hearts, let’s choose to remember that Our God’s Grace is sufficient for us.

PRAYER

Lord, it’s a blessing and comfort to know that You are more than enough for us. You don’t expect us to fill every single need or even have all the answers. We chose today to remember that You alone are God, and we are not. Thank you Lord for the relief of knowing we don’t have to have it all figured out as moms. We choose today to place our needs at Your feet. You see us right where we are, and you know the very real needs we have. Thank you for meeting us right where we find ourselves and for filling the needs of our own hearts, so we can continue to do the beautiful, messy, hard, and good work of motherhood.
